What is made of basalt, sand, cement, microsilica, quartz powder and steel fibres? Ill give you a clue: It goes on to have a very dense microstructure Thats right! These are the ingredients of UHPC. The UHPC that is needed for the current research work at the Institute of Structural Concrete at the RWTH in Aachen is made using the institutes own concrete mixer. What do they need to pay particular attention to, to make sure that the UHPC lives up to expectations and wont fail some time in the future?
