This is very interesting. I've been to two of Kesler's seminars. I like his style. Its a mix b/w that of Iwama fundamentals and Tiesser's free flowing movement. Very solid.

Even though the bokken jiyu waza" is totally based on the Iwama aiki-ken, Saito sensei didn't teach it. In my years with him we trained within the Iwama weapons forms, which is a beautiful system. But unlike in tai jitsu, there is no "jiyu waza in the Iwama weapons system. The "ken jiyu waza" (like "jo jiyu waza" and "ken tai jo jiyu waza") naturally developed from a need round out the training. Like in tai jitsu.
