Considering that the Big Bang theory is now thought by some to be a collision of demensional membrains wondering if smaller membrain contacts may be inpart a source of gamma Ray bursts and perhaps used to plot locations of such membrains. What is the meaning of it all? Whatever power is out there I guess we should all be glad it's here, but you don't have to worship it unless you're really diehard.

Not exactly. Light is only affected by the gravity of a black hole because its gravitational pull is so large. A star, even a large one, can't produce enough gravitational pull to hold in light. If they could, then we couldn't see star in the sky becasue we wouldn't see the light. When a star collapses into a black hole it is in fact being pulled into the black hole. Although most of them collapse and explode before they are completely pulled into the hole.
