Millions of protesters fed up with government spending marched to the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, showing their disdain for the president's health care plan with slogans such as Obamacare makes me sick and I'm not your ATM.
The line of protesters clogged several blocks near the Capitol, according to the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. Demonstrators chanted enough, enough and We the People. Others yelled You lie, you lie! and Pelosi has to go, referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
Throngs of people waved U.S. flags and held signs reading Go Green Recycle Congress and Obama Bin Lyin.' Men wore colonial costumes as they listened to speakers who warned of judgment day — Election Day 2010.
Other signs — reflecting the growing intensity of the health care debate — depicted President Barack Obama with the signature mustache of Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler. Many referred to Obama as a socialist or communist, and another imposed his face on that of the villainous Joker from Batman.
Richard Brigle, 57, a Vietnam War veteran and former Teamster, came from Paw Paw, Mich. He said health care needs to be reformed — but not according to Obama's plan. My grandkids are going to be paying for this. It's going to cost too much money that we don't have, he said while marching, bracing himself with a wooden cane as he walked. FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a March on Washington.
Organizers say they built on momentum from the April tea party demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.
Armey and other speakers directed their ire at Pelosi — Armey took a photo, telling the crowd he wanted to be able to prove to her they were there.
If it's necessary, we'll come back here next year, he said.
Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event — an ethic they believe should be applied to the government. They say unchecked spending on things like a government-run health insurance option could increase inflation and lead to economic ruin.

I'm starting to see how conservatives think via your comment, tiffaneytwilight. So because you feel more patriotic, that equals over a million? Just because you were there does not mean you possess critical or analytical thinking skills. Is it your job to estimate crowd sizes? Have you compared photos of other protests and events at the same mall in D.C. with photographs from the tea party? Just because you feel more patriotic doesn't make you right. It's a fact based world. 75,000 tops.
There is no point trying to have a rational discourse with them, because they believe what they want to believe and refuse to accept facts. Roger Ailes, figure this out about dumb republicans a long time ago, which is why he runs Fox the way he does. Just playing to the naive.
They know millions didn't show up, they just refuse to admit it. 65,000 was the number and that is a big number so I don't know why they aren't happy with it.
Millions? There were 60-70, 000. The D.C. Fire dept which has to estimate the crowd said so. Even Fox morning show and on Hannity said it was only 65,000 pple.
Only Beck said millions, but then he couldn't site the source lol.
Look it up pple 60-70,000 ppl tops. I know the ABC news worker tweeted 1.5 million, but it was wrong and the tweet wasnt suppose to be legit, which it wasn't and it was thus corrected. Even the guy himself said he was wrong.
Hell even Fox News reported as much. Don't believe me everyone? Goggle the news story they wrote that day (9/12). They said "tens of thousands" showed up, not "over a million."
And btw, funny how Glenn Beck didn't even go to the 9/12 rally. He was at his mansion in Connecticut or New York. He is playing all of his fans for dimmies while he gets tens of millions. I'd say he only believes 25 percent of what he says and the rest he is just making up.
They said tens of thousands because they hadnt had all the numbers in yet you IDIOT!!!!! You cant just look right at a few peole and tell exactly how many people are there.
No you are wrong. There is no Fox News story on their website that says over a million. The only person at Fox who thinks over a million was there was Glenn Beck, and we all know he doesn't really care much for facts. As he himself has said many times "I am not a journalist." Luckily, there are a few real journalists who work on Fox's website who don't print lies. Or at least they try not to.
