This is from game five of the 2002 first round series between the Leafs and Islanders.

Quinn mixed up Michael Renberg and Robert Reichel on his lineup card. Islanders coach Peter Laviolette waits until the first whistle to inform the referees, forcing the Leafs to play a man short for the entire game.

Hard to see how Quinn could make this mistake. Everyone knew that Reichel was an underachieving, overpaid center, while Renberg was an underachieving, overpaid winger.

Check out 2:09 on the vid- is that Hoglund on the right with the totally disgusted look on his face? And if so, why? Is he scared he's now going to be the most over-rated player on the ice?

  • Heh... probably.

  • the guy with the beard behind pat quinn still goes to the games, i see him on tv every saturday night game at the acc

  • Was a horrible mistake, but that was even more impressive was how quick Harry Neale (the co-commentator) picked up what was going on. He is always so sharp and quick and intelligent. Canada really misses him.

  • @aurocks14 yep haaha saw him last night to

  • @BookemDeno Same guy is still there anytime camera focuses on ron wilson

  • The Leafs play hockey like Lady Gaga!

  • @kidkawartha No, that was Alexander mogilny.

  • @kidkawartha it's reichel

  • feel bad for quinn here. must've been embarrassing. at least it didn't come back to bite him in this game.

  • @takhar cause he was a coach and knows the game

  • @kidkawartha you don't like hoglund huh lol

  • I can't believe we made it so far with this lineup:

    Corson-Healy-Domi

    Roberts-McCauley-Houglund

    Mogilny-Reichel-Poni

    Tucker-Green-Valk (probably)

I know Sundin & Renberg was injured for a bit and the Leafs even played guys like Bob Wren, Jeff Farkas, Don MacLean and Nathan Dempsey as fill-ins

I do remember McCauley and Roberts carrying the offence (with help from Mogilny), while Tucker&Corson gave guys like Peca, Yashin and Hossa/Havlat/Alfredsson against Ottawa in the second round a tough time.
