Vídeo institucional del defensor del menor holandés (Kinderombudsman). Durante 2 años Dave , un adolescente de 16 años, es acosado diariamente por sus compañeros de clase por se homosexual.

This is the story of Dave, who was beaten up at school for being homosexual in one of the most tolerant countries in the world. And he's not alone. When he turned to the school for help, they ignored the problem.

This film is part of a children's rights campaign in the Netherlands by the Dutch Children's Ombudsman, an official government position. The film is meant to draw attention to Holland's poor record on children's rights and inform Dutch children that, despite what anyone might say, they too have rights.

The campaign is based on real stories by children whose rights have recently been violated. Wanting to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of their experience and precariousness of their positions, we recruited other Dutch kids to help them tell their stories. The campaign includes a total of 4 short films and a series of outdoor posters. To watch other films search for 'Children's Ombudsman, Every child has the right to...' or for Dutch speakers go to www.dekinderombudsman.nl

  • Ok, I've just read it's based on real stories, so maybe Dave actually likes that music, anyway, it's nice to find your identity shared with others (and I'm not talking about me, I'm a grown up person right now, I mean for others who may feel discriminated within the LGBT community itself).

  • It's terrible that people go trough this. I have never gone through something similiar (except the usual names all teenagers call to each others) and though it was a little bit hard, can't imagine school like that.

P.D.: I love that Dave's t-shirt is an Arch Enemy's t-shirt. It's nice they break the fucking cliché, I would have hated a Lady Gaga's t-shirt, I like metal too and in the so-called "LGBT community", people like me are not represented (not to say, discriminated).

  • one important note in translation

around 1:16 in the translation it says "erasers", that should be "a pair of compasses"

    una nato importante

en la traduccion al rededor de los 1:16 pone "eraser" en la traduccion pero deberia ser "compás"

  • so true..

  • Great video! will share :)
