Tacoma Gunman stands off with SWAT after being shot by police

Tacoma Washington December, 11 2009.
A standoff began early this morning with a gunman and The Tacoma Swat Team. Mark Folgem Of the Tacoma Police Department said "The gunmans Car was pulled over in the early Morning hours off of Portland Ave after reports of shots fired in the area". During a search of the vehicle the suspect was found by police hiding in the trunk of the car. A fight insued with police that led to the suspect being Tazed. The tazing seemed to have no affect and the suspect was subsiquently shot by police. The suspect then got into the vehicle and fled to a home in the 5600 block of South L street where he baracaded himself and stood off with the SWAT team for several hours. The Swat team entered the home and took the wonded gumman into custody. He was taken by Paramedics to Tacoma General Hospital where he is being treated for unspecified gunshot wounds. His condition is unknown at this time. The invesigation is ongoing.
