With the passing of Bill Stone, Henry Allingham and Harry Patch in the last 12 months, there are no remaining solely British citizens who fought in The Great War. However there is still alive at 108 (Claude Choules) who fought as a British serviceman but is now an Australian citizen. Hopefully you will find this news clip interesting, and can perhaps pay your respects for what Charles and so many went through.

I obviously do not own this video, and hope that the BBC will not mind me sharing this with you.

  • Turns out that there is another WWI vet living in England. Her name is Florence Green. She was born there on February 18, 1901.

  • Please tell me more about this person.

  • Thank you for this wonderful video. Claude is my cousin, & it is not likely I can get to Australia soon to meet him personally. Thanks for this blessing.

  • When Britain first, at Heaven's command

    Arose from out the azure main;

    This was the charter of the land,

    And guardian angels sang this strain:

    "Rule, Britannia! rule the waves:

    "Britons never will be slaves."
