Linkin Park - What I've Done (Mike's live part)

For my 100th video, I decided to do something neat. After about a week of practice, I figured out how to switch back and forth between keyboard and guitar on What I've Done, like Mike does live. That's pretty much all this video is, I played to the new 2008 version with the extended intro.

Note that the synth part I play before the guitar comes in isn't actually played by Mike live (it's one of Joe's samples), I just did that to have something to do for the first minute or so. Also, I play the guitar part in the simplified way Mike's been doing it live for a while now, which is a tad different than in my video of his normal guitar part. I made one minor mistake at 2:09, but otherwise I'm happy with how this came out. I know my keyboard is a little hard to hear, sorry about that, I had the volume on it all the way up, but I didn't want to turn the music/guitar down any lower.

How come you didnt sing the "na na na" at the end that's part of Mike's live part?

@24pepperhi I practiced it that way when I was rehearsing to shoot this video (one of the few videos I actually had to rehearse for, I spent about 2 days working on it), but it ended up being a hassle. The microphone stand would've gotten in the way of the camera, it would've meant setting up more gear, getting the volume levels between the guitar, piano, PA system, and my stereo all balanced, and honestly, I'm not very good at singing and playing an instrument at the same time.

Why did they stop sampling the piano part for this song? I mean, either way it sounds just as good. Did Mike just want a little something extra to do?

I honestly think it was because of people complaining so much when the music video came out - "ZOMG WHY ISN'T MIKE PLAYIN DA PIANO PART DIS SUX"

Y'know, typical LP fan reactions to everything and whatnot.

hey you are awesome :) well am learning guitar now and i always refer your tabs as you are the best guitarist who plays as linkin park does,i have got a question,in the tab you have given for what ive done it's like 10/8,12/10,15/13 and 5/3,but when i saw in the ultimate guitar page the tabs are like 555/888/333/101010,am confused,can you please tell me what is the exact way to play mike's part in this song? waiting for your reply :)

i can see why you would do the power chords differently, i can do both the piano and guitar parts to it also, however i still play it the normal way on the guitar, using the

G - 7 - 10 - 5

D - 5 - 8 - 3 - 10

A - 5 - 8 - 3 - 10

D - 5 - 8 - 3 - 10

when i play it, i think its much easier that way than switching between the D and A for power chords
