  • A phonograph motor would have a pully on the side for a belt to connect to the upper mechanism or a spindle comming out of the top for a disc phonograph. They used spring motors is some phonographs up into to the 1960s and maybe even longer. I have no Idea what this is.

  • -record player up to the 1920's used to be clockwork-driven?

    -army phones were/are clockwork driven (you know in the old war movies how they wind them up and talk?) giving 1/2 hour of power?

    perhaps its from one of these devices?
