Throughout my neighborhood, country, continent, and world I've encountered all kinds of bug traps, zappers, and killing devices in every environment imaginable. Many, if not most, taking the life of insects for no sufficient reason.
Obviously we want to protect ourselves from disease carrying insects and bugs that might damage crops and food supplies. However, the vast majority of insect traps I've encountered serve no practical purpose other than to kill thousands of insects that aren't harming anyone or anything! As I explain in this video, many insect traps kill 24/7 yet the homeowner is never around nor are there crops or gardens to protect.
So, my point remains; Why take the life of another living thing without sufficient reason? Why not let as many creatures live out their natural lives, including insects, as long as possible? Why do we glorify all the recreational killing by hunters, fishermen, and even these patio bug traps? I believe we're all capable of a deeper respect for life and living things and can do much better when it comes to caring for our world. I hope you'll reconsider your own position on life and take this opportunity to protect living creatures and systems wherever you're at on this planet.

@GreenPrimitivist
It's not a question of rank or standing - all living things have an intrinsic value unto themselves that doesn't need to be weighed or valued by human opinion (or greed). Even maggots have a place in the natural world and shouldn't be destroyed without sufficient reason.

@kingcrimson234 What are you trying to prove? That you're better than insects? Your actions proved you to be of no higher standing than mere maggots.

@kingcrimson234
So, insects are different from you therefore you believe a lack of respect for their existance is acceptable? Does that philosophy also apply to dogs, whales, kittens, and cattle?

Life, in all forms, is rare and precious throughout the universe. Never take the life of another living thing without sufficient reason.

there was a pretty huge weird flying insect that got on my monitor the other night so i grabbed him with a pair of needlenose pliers and burned his antennae only off with a lighter. then i wrapped some masking tape around the handles of the pliers and let it chill there for a good 20 mintues before burning the rest of him. i'm not even making this up.

but insects are different from myself and therefore their pain and suffering is of no importance.

@zeekzilch Your appreciation for life in this world is refreshing for me, because it reminds me that there ARE people that actually cares for nature. Im so fed up with most people these days talking about how their life sucks because they dont have enough materialistic things and so on. Refreshing.
