when did dionne warwick sing this about 10 years earlier in 1966? naked eyes sang it in 1983. i loved everyone of these versions. all of them are good.

I agree with your assessment, about that French dude: there isn't anything quite like a French guy trying to imitate the look and sound(?) of the late Elvis Presley.
A French Elvis? That would more closely resemble some kind of E.T., in my honest opinion.
P.S: Donna sings well, but I--myself--still remember this tune as largely British (English), instead of even remotely resembling the singing style that can be characterized as "Motown".
