  • Why! In! God's! Name! Did! Lucas! Take! This! Out! Of! The! "Special! Edition!"? At lease, despite the shittiness, the hand shooting first acutally CHANGES something. This was a change for nothing to a boring song that no one likes.

  • @zzyzx0788 It's extremely condescending to suggest that concepts like severed limbs or murder are inappropriate for children. If you compare the SW films to similar period kids' films like Indiana Jones (especially Temple of Doom), Hocus Pocus, Gremlins, Labyrinth, Transformers: The Movie, every single one of them is arguably darker than Star Wars, yet are amongst the most beloved kids movies. SW is a series aimed at kids, that happened to appeal to adults, not vice versa.

  • @zzyzx0788 That's bullshit. Of course the Star Wars movies were made for kids, hence the obvious audience surrogate kid character of Luke, the toy merchandise, Ewoks etc. Mature themes like murder are not exclusive to adult fiction. The Cartoon Network Clone Wars series is arguably darker than any of the SW movies. It's less offensive to upscale kids movies than dumbing down adult ones by introducing child-focussed characters like Jar-Jar, Ewoks, R2 etc.

  • I prefer this ending since its thh one I grew up with

  • @aquamerfish They did a remake? When?

  • @zzyzx0788 And the remade ending song was perfectly appropriate for the finale of the series like I said, having a feeling of a mixture of celebration, grief, and redemption that was perfectly exemplified by the ending scenes of Vader's body being burned, the celebrating Ewoks and other main characters, and Luke seeing the ghost of Yoda, Obi Wan, and his newly reconciled dad

  • @Strand0410 Yea but the new song in Jedi was not one of them, nor do I remember any bombs in the Star Wars movies (hell it was one of the only redeeming qualities in the prequels). I also think that's completely ridiculous to say none of the this is overdrawn melodrama or that it was made for kids. Did you watch any of the movies? Murder, severed limbs, charred corpses, planets exploding, and pretty dark themes, trying to make it seem like this was directed mostly at kids is wrong

  • @zzyzx0788 John Williams has composed bombs too you know. And even without the nostalgia blinders, this is still a great song for the end of Star Wars. This isn't some overdrawn melodramatic sap like the prequels, this was still a series for kids and the levity from this song is perfect for diffusing all the pent-up emotion from the last 30 minutes of ROTJ. I also agree with him that no-one who saw this before needless changes would say what you did.

  • They never did explain what the Ewoks did to the stormtrooper bodies... Oh wait, they tried to eat Han, Luke and Leia first time they met.
