Somebody needs to teach them that in Fokine's time, a male danseur kept his foot in the sur-le-coup-de-pied position during a pirouette, not at the knee. It completely changes the outline of the shape, and it is actually harder to master. One has to wonder from what they reconstructed this and how. The last authentic production I know of would have been that by the St. Louis Ballet under Ludmilla Dokoudovsky.

Thank you so much for posting this ballet. This is the very first ballet I ever danced in when I was a teenager. I have been looking for footage and information on it for so long I was starting to think I had imagined it!

what a shame - I cant believe that they would stage this garbage over Petipa's original "harlequinade" which is MUCH better in its original form.

This role is perfect for Obraztsova and her and Shklyarov have such good chemistry. I also like Yana Selina, she is beautiful. Thank you, this is wonderful.
