The Chilean Navy allowed the film crew to use their submarine CNS Simpson. The two submarines that appear in some scenes are in fact the same one, the CNS Simpson.
The Lindblad Explorer, transporting a production unit to Antarctica, struck a submerged reef and almost sank. The passengers were rescued by CNS "Piloto Pardo", which finally appear on the movie.
