The "High Time For A Hero" music video is a microcosmic and symbolic look at a slice of America in the form of a small to medium size urban city. In this case it's Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The song, written and performed by New Jersey based singer/songwriter, Jeff Saxon, is intended to make the listener stop and think; not just for themselves, but of the greater good.
Hope waxes and wanes in small town New Jersey, just like everywhere in America, but despite setbacks and hardship and loss, hope is never lost.
And while struggles might beset us, it's hope that keeps us all looking ahead and moving forward. The video sets out to capture the hopeful spirits that live in a town where help is obviously needed. The videographer, Christina Eliopoulos , and director of photography, Edouard Nammour, implement some special-effects and some astute and powerful symbolism to get the hope-over-despair message across. The video was deftly edited by Jake Mautner.
There are several shots which feature graffiti art created specifically for this project by students at Red Bank Regional School of Visual and Dramatic Arts. They are using artistic creativity for a dual purpose...as a means of creative artistic expression, but also as a means of venting frustration for the uncertain and difficult times they are living in.
We see ballet dancers from The Joffrey Ballet and Alvin Ailey ballet troupes; showing grace juxtaposed against a distressed backdrop of grafittied walls and bridges. The main character in the video is a 15 yr. old girl who conjures up images of these ballerinas as a way of finding beauty in the inner city world that she inhabits. But yet all of these things still have the potential for beauty.
The video is a finalist in the 2012 New Jersey Film Festival.

This is the Saxon Sound that I recall from back in the day. Somehow it's even better than I remembered it. OUTSTANDING, Jeff. Why hasn't CNN picked this up for some of their military segments??
