  • @kaishaku72 And it's the same with heavy metal.....which really broke through with Hendrix, then the Brits who studied him and the Blues, like Zeppelin, then all the bad music from Osbourne and such but it was all minor. But they weren't even thinking about it until we came through....

  • @kaishaku72 And I should add...long before I knew the meaning and difference between major and minor keys I knew the difference between SOFT and HARD. And when hip-hop emerged, OUR instincts led us to what was HARD. The vast majority of these cats don't know or read music. Instinct guides them....that's why these cats created Krump. They wanted a harder more concentrated form of hip-hop. The music is what makes you want to BUCK.And like Americans do, they innovated and created, from thin air.

  • @kaishaku72 Minor key may have come to Italy from the Moors but we didn't start using it until Coltrane, Monk, Mingus and Miles needed a deeper range of expression than the major chords. Ellington toured the Middle East and came back with little, in the 50s. In the Blues scale the Minor Key was used. In fact, the Chinese scale is all the black-keys on the piano. But the reason WE use it is because it's the very definition of HARD. Americans don't byte Arabs or anyone else for that matter

  • @cavaleer Yungslick can hear elements of an arabic scale in the synth. Don't be scared. See the wikipedia entry for musical scale to learn more.
