On Saturday 13 June 2009, the Victorian Goldfields Railway celebrated the 125th anniversary since the opening of the Castlemaine to Maldon branch line. Steamrail also ran a tour from Melbourne to Bendigo, which connected with the VGR train at Castlemaine. Part 2 of this video includes scenes of J541 being turned at Maldon, R707 and R761 shunting at Bendigo and then the up Steamrail tour between Kangaroo Flat and Malmsbury, including the parallel departure from Castlemaine alongside the VGR special.

Theres one R class at Ballarat, its R700 (its the one under cover currently surrounded by old rolling stock).
There are, however, four D3s sitting next to eachother on the other side of the shed... sadly i doubt they'd be up and running anytime soon =(

woooo The j class was so cool! Soon steamrail will run their 2 r classers due to the thing that they are all at ballrat and in parts and you can see them at ballat just out side the station in the yard!
