The Armenian Genocide
april 24 1915 the day of commemoration.

Around WW1 the crumbing Ottoman Empire inflicted unprecedented atrocities against their Armenian population by the use of deliberate and systematic massacres and a series of deportations into the Syrian desert. These events have come to be known as the first Genocide of the 20th century. Unfortunately even after 94 years these events are largely unknown to the general public and are being forcedly denied by the Turkish government. Turkish lobbyist and governmental representatives pressure the western governments including the United States to keep this matter hidden and unrecognized until this very day. Nevertheless the small numbered Armenian population is succeeding increasingly at revealing the truth about this hidden Genocide!

The truth must be told even if 94 years have passed. The Turkish government is actively campaigning the denial politics, we cannot afford to lay low.

Spread the word !!

Music is composed and written by Bear McCreary, sung in Armenian by Raya Yarbrough for the series Battlestar Galactica

translated Lyrics to the song:

A distant and familiar sadness calls to us
As if carried on the wind, like burning sand
Brothers and sisters, away, you endure
Stranded on our own land
A memory etched into soul and skin
Leaves a scar that never heals
Our family is strong, but scattered
Across the stars and fields
We will not abandon you
We will not forget you
We will return for you

by request Lyrics in Armenian:

and finally Lyrics in Armenian with Latin letters:

Herru yev tsanot' tkhrut'yun më mez kë kanch'e
K'amiov beruats , ayruogh awazi nman
Yeghbayrner yev K'oyrer , vor herrwum ek' , duk' kë tokak'
Anelaneli vitsaki mej , mer isk hoghin vray .
Yishoghut'in më p'voragruats hogu yev mort'i mej
Kë t'oghne spi my vor yerbek' ch'i buzhuir
Mer ëntanik'ë amur e , bayts' ts'iruts'an
Astgheru yev dashteru taratsut'ean mej .
Menk' dzez ch'i piti lk'enk'
Menk' dzez ch'i piti morrnank'
Menk' dzez hamar piti veradarrnank'

  • i'm a turkish and i believe even if it happened, no matter how brutal it was, past is past. every country made horrible things to each other.

and the reason why i'm here is, can somebody write the original armenian lyrics? it's really beautiful in armenian

  • @theguywithtwohands2 Without being looked upon as if I am not one of “them”, one of those who belongs on those streets, and to whom the street belongs to. And if I wish to walk around with a cross around my neck people looking at me will only friendly smile in peace. That is what we want. You should understand that we were a part of the Ottoman Empire. We walked and paved those streets literally and figuratively. That is why we consider those lands as our home.

  • @theguywithtwohands2 We still want to live there, not by stealing it from you, but by sharing it as equals. As it once was a long time ago. This is what a multiethnic society means. It doesn’t mean we should all become Turks or all become Armenians, or Greeks etc… It means we should all remain who we are but who we are should not define our position.

  • @theguywithtwohands2 We should all be able to walk down the same street without getting hit, visit same stores without getting kicked out and share the same land to build a Mosque and a Church. People on this earth are just not ready for this kind of co-existence yet. But we can at least start by obeying basic human rights by acknowledging past transgressions and thus warning future generations of consequences instead of condoning crimes .

  • @theguywithtwohands2 I hope you understand my analogy, this is not very easy to explain and a lot of emotions play an important role on both sides, but in the end this is a universal problem of all humans. And yes I agree, all countries do bad things to each other. Everyone did bad things. But the above is imo why we should not simply leave past in the past.

  • @theguywithtwohands2 the entire story starts on a previous page, sorry it was a bit long. O and about the Armenian lyrics, just for you I put them in the description area. :)

  • @Boghosianm It is used in a tv show called Battlestar Galactica. In fact, it was composed with that pupose by Bear McCreary. You can watch it if you want, this song is the first soundtrack to be played in the 1st episode of 3rd season, during the summary of the Cylon occupation to the planet called New Caprica.

  • @PeopleOfAr I do understand, though I believe civilization is a curse, and land is the property of those who are able to fight or pay for it. But on the other hand, if we can talk about democracy and freedom and equality, it must be for all, I agree. If we say everyone is equal, then no one can be more equal.

And thank you, for the Armenian lyrics. :)

  • @theguywithtwohands2 This reinforced the idea that we as Armenians should start our own “street” where we have own rules where we are equals and no one is allowed to hit us anymore. This street we now call “Armenia”. But I hope one day I will be able to walk down the streets of Trabzond, the same “street” that my great grandfather and his father and the father before him helped to build.

  • @theguywithtwohands2 We always wanted to walk down the streets obeying the law that applies to EVERYONE! But you see in history during 1st ww as the idea of “nationalism” swept over Europe, us Armenians suddenly became the OTHERS and therefore the law of protection against “hits in the face” did not apply to us. Because they saw us as not equal. Therefore bandits and Kurds started to “hit” us, this was encouraged by the government.

  • @theguywithtwohands2 Don’t get me wrong we realize very well that Turks today have nothing to do with the events during massacres. Most of those perpetrators are already dead. We do not demand punishment of Turkish people. What angers us is the position of the Turkish government that is actively participating in denial. We still want to walk down the streets of Turkey, but in our case the modern Turkish government is punishing us by banning us from the streets, instead of condemning the hitters
