Ed and Neko in lesson

Ed got on to show us adjustment making and using body positioning and weight shifts. She was moving forward and reaching great. When he started the next circle he threw his hands up in the air and kept riding - and Neko's head, speed, and position NEVER moved! I was changing batteries at the time but will post in another video. I have never seen anyone ride like him. Neko is so square and solid because of him, but he is also a great communicator because he can explain the slightest details. Even more amazing, is he doesn't ride Neko and doesn't know her, but wasn't in the saddle five minutes before he turned to us and gave us his impression of her - and he was right on with everything. It was like he had known her his whole life. For the record, Neko has never, ever worn a martingale or draw rein and never had more than a snaffle bit (and not a correction bit type that just looks like a snaffle when you ride, but an actual fat plain snaffle.) We had lessons before with another guy whose whole idea was more bit, more bit, more bit on his horses. I am so glad we never allowed it. We tried it on Jake because we believed he was helping us and it was in the lesson but it was a mistake and we stopped and swore we'd never do it again. Jake went back to his snaffle and turned into a dream horse. Neko will only wear a snaffle though she may have to wear a tom thumb in her western classes which is actually a broken curb but at least the curb strap will be a good four inches from her face because she doesn't need all of that.
