The BBC is the British Broadcasting Corporation - the Govermnent-run TV/Radio network in the UK. Its a total institution over here! We've all grown up to the BBC!

@7beers It is not government run, but it's funding for it's television stations is primarily recieved through what essentially amounts to a television tax that is set every year by the Government.
Other funds for other initiatives are recieved through grants.
So it is publically funded primarily through a tax/license.
