Seems like theres a lot of people who like to make comments about other peoples techniques...Sensei Kanazawa should be respected by every person calling themselves a karateka. He trained with the likes of Sensei Enoida, Sensei Kase, and Sensei Shirai to name but a few. Who the hell are we to say whats right and wrong? I have had the extreme honour of training with Sensei Shirai once, and we have no right to make comments about their techniques. *They* are the teachers, *we* are the students.Oss!

i hope you don't study shotokan, because if you knew anything of the history you would know that funakoshi changed the kata as well to make them easier to learn and to express his vision of the form. not everything has to be purely traditional, if this is self expression then let the man express himself, if you want tradition, go study shitokai. either way i doubt you have any business commenting on that man's legacy

Kanazawa is & will for ever be an example for all karateka. By the way there are 2 versions of Jiin in Shtokan, the 2nd being with Gyaku Uchi Uke ° Gedan Barai all the kata during.

I do Ji'in in Karate Sankukai, and it's slightly different, unfortunately no way to find a sankukai version on the web....any chance on your opinion...you'd be surprised of a good execution of Ji'in in the way Master Yoshinao Nanbu modified it... (same is for Bassai-Dai and Annanko)...OSS

really if u talk smack about kanazawa or any other martial artist u are fuking stupid and should consider leaving martial arts. if u criticise that shows that u really dont know nothing about karate or anything related to it. the point of karate or any martial arts is to improve oneself, not compare ur self with others or talk shit bout them. nuff said

@deejin25 Agree totally. Certain styles emphasize certain aspects of fighting, that's the beauty behind all martial arts. It's a big waste of energy focusing who/what is best or worse than the other(s). Real question is, am I the best I can be? That one question should keep a person occupied enough with their own progress in their chosen art that they won't have time to criticize others.

@deek77 In terms of Shotokan Kata he's one of the gold standards. Now Shotokan isn't the place to go for say grappling or economy of motion based techniques, but like everything else on the earth it has strengths and weaknesses. I DO find it funny someone claiming great knowledge of Karate, Kata and Budo spends so much time Trashing Kanazawa, especially since Kanazawa is so widely revered. Sometimes people trash their own reputations without knowing how bad they look. Lol!
