  • @reva 12 - I edited your comment: "@manujkrishnan I also think Lalitha was beautiful and possibly had a better sense of how to tone her expressions down for the camera than Padmini.

Thanks for the clip kvammayi. How come the [edited] guys have not served you with the notice to take down the video?:)"

  • Barely see kids dancing with this intensity and art. Are we graduating kids just for the sake of money and not matter????

  • Superb dancing but there are not sisters to match Sai Subbulaxmi! Lalitha was an excellent actress but Padmini too later matured in her roles and did extremely well. Ther e are many later films starting from Veerapandya Kattabomman to Theivapiravi.

  • Delightful: Indian culture at its best.

  • Dear Rajan,

my name is Manu J.Krishnan and not Manjukrishnan

Lalitha was a great dancer and a great actress than Padmini...I challenge .Kindly purchade the DVD of Ponni and watch.

Lalitha was very much "into" the roles that she got.Kanavane Kankanda Dheyivam,Devadas,Thooku Thooki are best examples.

With regard to her dance Sudarshan is a best example...

  • o god i have lost them there are nomore such fabulous dancers in this silly generation

  • To add, i have not seen much of Lalitha's dances to really admire her, but from what i see here she is very graceful. Ragini also was very sharp in her Bharatanatyam, quite like her sister Padmini and was able to match up on par with Padmini. The Sai Subbulaksmi sisters were also excellent like the Travancore sisters. Kumari Kamala also was ahead of all in dancing. Vyjaynthimala was also a talented dancer as well. These ladies mentioned were probably the best.

  • Padmini has always been sharp when she executes her moves. That was her signature style. She was a very good dancer, infact brilliant. Its only sometimes, she lacked the grace and that was much later part in the 60's where she had gained a lot of weight. That was where Vyjayanthi scored over her as she still had lot of grace when she danced in the late 60's due to the fact that she was still quite slim, nonetheless Padmini was a great dancer and her techniques were just amazing.

  • I agree with Manjukrishnan and Kvammayi. Even today people remember Lalitha's Nagrani in 'Kanavane kan kanda deivam '( Vyjayantimala did the role in the remake "Devta" and she was not apatch on Lalitha, maybe Vyjayanti was almost a novice at that time. )

Will somebody upload the songs " Enthan ullam thulli " and " Unnai kan theduthe" from the movie?

    Rajan Thomas

  • Such a beautiful song - starts off with the raga Vijayanagiri, then Jonpuri, Kuntalavarali and finally Sindhu Bhairavi. Sadly, no one composes such gems these days.
