I dont know mortar is great for me you spam near main entrances or on obj and it pwns.

It has the same spash damge. radius and main damage as one arti shell with one benifit you dont need to expose your field op for arti when you can lay back and perform the same feat as mortar.

For the offensive team but for defensive team medic and cover is what plays most of the time.

Almost no one uses soldier class even if it is very powerful class.

The same goes in ET quake wars technician + infiltrator.

A good mortar can easily defend obj no matter how far off.

On another thing you said you use also field so you use arti or air right?

A mortar is also great way to continue the barage on that locations while waiting for field to recover.

When we are playing in clan, the most common team is med-field-eng... It's good combo, because it works well in many different situation, cover, just as mortar-soldier is efficient in specific circumstances... Ofc it's more efficient than mortar, mainly because of fast destruction of several objectives, and opening the doors, but for me, good teamwork between team of experienced fraggers is base of each win.

@PhreakStep Clan Wars, Scrims, whatever you call it - two clans plaing against each other.

For me, field ops is more efficient - to use mortar, you have to waste a lot of time setting it, field ops arty is faster, and you are staying all the time with your team, instead being far away from them, you can always support them with your gun, and what can be even more important - you see all the situation, instead of firing in a "blind space" like you do with a mortar :P

Mortar on obj works wonders.

Mortar is a support and it works the same as filed op arti not to mention mortar can be used indoors too if the celling is high enough you can shoot it and enemies bellow die.

And what do you mean by official fights?

Clan War?

Well sure no one uses mortar infact no one uses anything except medic and covert.

@PhreakStep I have never seen any clan player using mortar, at least in official fights ;) and i doubt that even god could hold back whole, good team using mortar :P
