I- Introit and Kyrie
Jean Fournet conducting the Emile Passani Choir and Orchestra in Berlioz' Requiem (Grande Messe des Morts) Op.5 on Columbia Masterworks set MM-769. Even though the Sanctus is abbreviated to half its length, this is the largest single-volume original album I've seen, with 11 records clocking in at 78 minutes. As the date 1948 appears on the cover and the album number is very high, this might very well be Columbia's last classical 78rpm album, as they introduced the LP that very year and were soon to liquidate their remaining classical 78rpm stock. This was part of a collection of 32 classical 78rpm albums one eBay seller sold me; the collection was shipped in 5 packages, but the last two packages had 5 albums with records that arrived broken, which saddened me a lot as I was really eager to hear them, so I felt it fitting that this Requiem is what I should post now.
Player: BSR UA25 mounted in Canadian-made Shelbern console.
1943, actually. (Except for the Quaerens me, which was done in 1944.)

Thank you so much for going through all of the trouble of uploading these videos. I absolutely love classical recordings on 78 RPM records. The sound quality is very impressive and much better than what I expected upon first clicking the link to this video clip. In my collection, I only have Opera excerpts and two orchestral pieces, a 3 minute version of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto no.1 and two interpretations of the Warsaw Concerto. I can't wait to hear your other classical albums :)
