A coalition of labor leaders and energy experts met in Washington, D.C., Feb. 11 for a press conference sending the message that advanced clean coal can help solve the nations economic woes while creating millions of green jobs for the future.
Touting a study commissioned by the IBEW, the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity and other groups, speakers outlined the financial and environmental benefits of carbon capture and storage technologies.
The United States has the largest coal reserves in the world which produce half of the nations electricity. Such high demand spells a greater opportunity for good-paying union jobs.
But labor leaders say theres no guarantee of good jobs without solid activism and government support.
