  • hey

pls can u tell me how can I practise this with a methronome....I have problem with legato licks when i practise them over it because in every legato lesson on youtube no one mentions should i play lick in 16th notes (4 notes per beat) or any other rhytm figure

    can u help me

    sry for my bad english

  • @Necr0pha4gist I would say that the best thing to do is head to my website and work on some of the legato technique lessons in the technique section...it's all free and you'll learn to play this stuff in time! The link is in the information under the video on this page or type MWGLforums - dot - com

  • thanks a ton mark. this is the first lesson on youtube that i have done that has got me back into playing!

i really like the final representation of this lick.

i play an Ibanez as well

    S7420 blue sunburst

  • No problem! I'm glad you liked the lesson....its definitely something that I use quite a bit although I've been trying to work towards a less legato style in my own playing just to change things up.

The Ibanez is something new for me. I traded some gear to a student for it a few months ago and it is really fun to play...

  • @OrionLong It's a Red Flare. The camera makes it look pink. Now I'm not gonna argue with the man himself. If he thinks it's orange then.....Okay.

  • ''I brought my orange Ibanez''.... Have I become colour blind?....

  • That looks like road flare red to me.

  • wow thanks for this lick dude

  • @premiermusic i think i remember eddie saying he saw jimmy page do it

  • @vanhalenreserve as far as legato playing goes on guitar players have been doing it since the beginning of guitar as an instrument. The two handed tapping version the Van Halen is known for had been done by players like Harvey Mandel and if I remember correctly Steve Howe years earlier...they just didn't have the crazy success that Eddie had with it and he definitely expanded the technique and made it his own.

  • hey great playing man!!

check out my vids if u have time..im new to youtube ;)
