This is a selection of my favourite books on films and filmmakers within the Horror genre, I've also snuck in a couple titles that don't exclusively pertain to Horror as well.
Forgive me if I sound a little tired on the update as I made a rookie error on my update by going over the fifteen minute limit (to 16:31 actually), uploaded it in HD and hours later when finally complete it was rejected by YouTube but only after I had deleted the source material, leaving me to start from scratch all over again. So technically this is the 'Chinese Democracy' of updates but hopefully not as disappointing.
The titles featured are as follows:
The Encyclopedia Of Horror Movies - Phil Hardy
Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut - J. A. Kerswell
Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday The 13th - Peter M. Bracke
The Evil Dead Companion - Bill Warren
John Landis - Giulia D'Agnolo Vallan
Broken Mirrors/Broken Minds: The Dark Dreams of Dario Argento - Maitland McDonagh
All I Need to Know about Filmmaking I Learned from the Toxic Avenger - Lloyd Kaufman
Showgirls, Teen Wolves, and Astro Zombies: A Film Critic's Year-Long Quest to Find the Worst Movie Ever Made - Michael Adams
Not Quite Hollywood: The Official Collector's Handbook - Paul Harris
You're Only as Good as Your Next One: 100 Great Films, 100 Good Films, and 100 for Which I Should Be Shot - Mike Medavoy & Josh Young
Fiasco: A History of Hollywood's Iconic Flops - James Robert Parish
Let me know if I've failed to list any here that I included in the update. Another favourite I didn't mention in the update as I couldn't locate the book is 'Down and Dirty Pictures' by Peter Biskind which is amazing book about the return of the independent American film in the late eighties/early nineties and subsequent rise of the indie studios/distributors/festivals responsible.
Enjoy and if you do please subscribe :)
I have that Slasher book ;) Cheap through Book Depository, $23 landed. I agree with Dom, I might have to do a video response to this!
