Thoracentesis to remove 1200cc of Plural Fluid at Harborview

This is me getting a Thoracentesis at Harborview Medical Center in downtown Seattle. They removed 1200cc of Plural Fluid from my lung cavity. The fluid was around my left lung causing it to collapse.

Procedure = Thoracentesis
Fluid = Plural Fluid / Plural Effusion
Volume = 1200cc

They dont puncture the lung itself. The puncture and put the "needle" in the space around the lungs, which is where the fluid builds up.

I remember having this done when I was 12. I was so scared. I must admit though, it felt much better after the procedure.

Million dollar question what was producing the fluid? Heart? or Lung?

When the doc said I needed one of these, this is the video I found and it about creeped me out since I'm not a fan of needles. But I had FOUR of them in the course of three months or so after kidney cancer surgery. Turns out my lungs (and abdomen) were filling up with PEE since my ureter was leaking at the rebuilt kidney. And that was only the beginning of the fun!

i just had this done to me yesterday ..also one from my stomach two days ago it caused u to feel fainty if the fluid is remove on a high speed so u gotto be careful on the pce u go otherwise u can colapsed ...it was awesome tho :P
