I thought I could master the moon kick in a single session after seeing it done on YouTube. As you can see, I was wrong, although I did get close about 3 times. I'm posting this so I can get some feedback as to what I'm doing wrong. I don't know if I need more height, more power in the kick/rotation, or if i just need to work on the landing. Anyways, any pointers would be greatly appreciated. I'm sore as fuck from trying this two days in a row and would like to know what I'm doing wrong before I give it another go. Oh yeah, and that round off (if you can call it that) was me considering trying a backflip although I've never tried one, but then I pussed out since that round off was no good. Then after that I attempted a back handspring just to vary things up. Obviously I don't have any acrobatic experience but I'm hoping to work on that =)

  • That's awesome, can you do a kip-up?

  • @DanielMurphy007

I wish. Soon after I tried this trick and posted this video I hurt my ankle, and then re-injured it from getting caught in a heel-hook and not tapping out. So unless my ankle heals up some day, my acrobatics days are over :(

What about you? You do any of this kind of stuff?

  • I practice BJJ, but not the gymnastic stuff.

  • I just tried the gymnastic stuff for a few weeks until I injured myself, lol. I still practice BJJ as often as possible, although I don't go to a BJJ gym anymore. Since I joined the Coast Guard I've been just training with people on the boat any time I get an opportunity.

  • man, just STOP, relax, and focus. take a deep breath and GO, you need to kick more in the air with ur right leg. take 1 try, then if it fails, rest for about 1 min, then do it again. Dont turture urself.

  • Thanks. I tried it again about a week ago with no success, and then it's been raining off and on this week so I haven't really had a chance to give it another go. The reason each attempt has only a few seconds rest in between is because I was trying not to make the footage too lengthy, but you're right though about not torturing myself. Good advice for my next trial :)

  • i have same problem ;x

  • You need more speed, You're going into the trick very slowly and then almost coming to a stop just before you take off. Try going into it a bit faster and keep your speed as you jump.

  • i learned to do it, its also called a slant gainer, your going straight over, try swinging your leg more off to the side and get some slant to you flip, keep your legs straight, and make sure to use your arms! otherwise your doing pretty good :) check out mine i didnt land it in that video but i can now, just a few hours later... :P

  • man your lucky, yesterday i went to the park to try it....i got scared....atleast u have the confidence

  • You really deserve 5 Stars

But do not stop and continued to be noted with the days you are fluent, well ^ _ ^ Thank you for this wonderful video

  • u r closer than u think 2 getting the move believe it or not, its all down 2 trying it regularly. so on any day it isnt raining just get yourself 2 keep tryin the move. u will learn it within a few days but once u hav mastered it keep trying it anyway bcoz u can lose the move if u dnt practice it enough.
