The story goes that keyboardist/lead vocalist Doug Ingle was living with drummer Ron Bushy in a apartment in Hollywood. They were trying to piece the band back together after the first album. Doug was writing "In A Garden Of Eden" but he got really drunk while he was composing the song. When Ron came home from his job he asked Doug what the name of the song was and Doug answered him in a very drunk, slurred voice "In a gadda-da-vida." So Ron wrote it down as the song's title and it stuck!
