Filmed at Lorelei, about 400 feet above the eastern bank of the Rhine, near St. Goarshausen, Germany -- six months after the release of U2's third LP, WAR, on February 28, 1983.

Note: There are several audio and video glitches, skips, etc. Also, some bass distortion. These were present in the source recording, which was a capture from a television re-broadcast. I didn't alter the source.

Beautifully filmed by at least a half dozen cameras.

Of interest: All songs are from U2's first three LPs. The band performed six of the ten songs on WAR, six of the eleven songs on BOY, and only one song (Gloria) from OCTOBER.

Personnel:

Bono (Paul Hewson) -v
The Edge (Dave Evans) - g, k
Adam Clayton - b
Larry Mullen, Jr. - d

  • they were great - but EATB will always be the BEST!

  • My favorite band, for so many reasons, will always be R.E.M., but live...no. I saw Echo in 1986 in Irvine, California, and, despite it being during Pete de Freitas' absence from the band (he subsequently rejoined), it was the best show I've ever seen....it was my first concert date with my soon-to-be wife, and it was an amazing night.....

  • everything means something at some time .... an CAT dubh ... into the heart of a child I could stay awhile ... SIP ...

  • The Rockpalast lineup on that Saturday (August 20, 1983) was The Steve Miller Band, Joe Cocker, The Stray Cats, U2 and Dave Edmunds, and by no means were U2 headlining this event. In fact, most people had come to see veteran artists Cocker and Miller and had never even heard of U2 before. Bono & Co. took the stage around 5 pm and blew everyone away; before their second encore Bono even asked the audience "how many people have come to see U2"...

  • I love U2 so much for nearly thirty years!! Their music is gospel to me! ! Bono and U2 forever!!! An Cat Dubh Rocks!!!!!!!! Gina

  • Glorious!

Thanks! This is one of my fav songs from Boy.
