  • Do not use your inside leg. You don't need to do that to get your horse to tip her nose & round out. It'll actually cause u more problems for it'll make her swing out her hindquarters & lose momemtum. Their hindquarter give them power, so swinging them out will make them lose it. I'm not sure if you follow any specific racing style, but might I suggest checking out Charmayne James' method. It's been proven to be very affective, and I a few videos on my channel.

  • @xEquineLuverx thank you that is very helpful!

  • I would start near the center before taking to first that's what throwing off your first barrel but other than that I looks like your horse knows what he's doing lol beautiful run though keep up the good work and keep trying! I hope my advice helps may sound a lot like everyone elses! Lol

    Abby (:

  • @xGiddyUpGirl yeah it took all of you people to get me to see it and ireally appreciate it. Thank you for the advice:)

  • Looks like your horse has the same problem as mine. :P Idk if this will work for u, but it worked for me(: instead of like lining up straight towards the first barrel, u should line up a bit off to the left and at an angle. Also, try to go into it a bit wider maybe?(: tht should help help your horse go a faster around the barrel and use her hindquarters more (this might not work for your horse though) haha its good to try new things though :P

  • @BarrelRacer2454 thank you! ill have to try that!

  • @xEquineLuverx yeah but like i said theres so many factors that can affect it so it wold be hard to name who the best is. Just like this yr its Lindsey Sears next could be Pozzis turn and then Sherry, this yr just wasnt their time

  • @3BarrelRacer Just because current runs at the NFR are few seconds below her times, doesn't mean there are faster people and more competition. It can depend on how the pattern is set and how the footing is.

  • @xEquineLuverx i just watched one of her clinics and while she made good points, they were obvios and things i coulve figured out on my own. and like i said competition is a lot tougher now and ive seen her runs she clocked a lot of 17s whereas now the pros clock 13s or 14s. but yeah i mean to be the champ 11x does make a diff. but all the others are working their way up too

  • @3BarrelRacer I like Charmayne's methods because they have been proven to be very effective & I know a lot of ppl who find it easy to follow them. And no offense, but 11 times is pretty consecutive & to that degree, it kind of matters.

  • @3BarrelRacer Of course. Barrel racing takes yrs of practice, but in the end a lot of it comes down to luck. Everyone has their own opinions & idols & that can't be changed. I wasn't saying there's only one right method/style to barrel racing, hense why I said "need" & "don't have to" in my pervious comments.

  • @3BarrelRacer can't*

  • @xEquineLuverx Sherry knows what shes doin, sometimes your horse doesnt cooperate or you just have a bad run, theres so many factors that affect how it goes. you can really say its fair to base who the best is in anything even all other sports on what comes down to 10 runs. Everyone has the potential to be the best, sometimes it just doesnt work out in your favor. but i get what you sayin and their all good tips, everyone just has their own way of doing things

  • @xEquineLuverx well yes you could do that but you dont always wanna take the chance of being too close. Charmaynes an outstanding barrel racer but shes also older than Sherry and has Been to the NFR more consecutively. Sherrys workin her way up and competitions tougher now it just takes time but she has the potential to win more than Charmayne. I take tips from all pros but Sherry makes more sence to me and i can follow her easier. and it doesnt matter how many titles youve won

  • @3BarrelRacer Well, according to Charmayne's method, you don't need to have wide pockets. You can come in and off the barrel in the same amount of space, which is perferably four feet. Sure, Sherry Cervi is a good barrel racer, but until she won more than eleven titles, I am going to stick with Charmayne James, thank you very much.

  • @xEquineLuverx i know what it means, to drive through just means that they keep pushing through the barrel and keep up the speed to keep going..obviously, I barrel race I know. and not literally swing them they just need to push their rear end up around the barrel to not knock it oover and get their entire body around the barrel. and you want a wide pocket yes, but you also want them to finish close and tight. having them swing theit butt still lets them drive around
