Hey everybody, its Merrill and I have an update for you about the Visual Arts category on YouTube. Mr. and Mrs. Google wrote us back.

Lets recap- Over the past week and a half, YouTube artists have posted in the forums and contributed several compelling videos which advocate for a Visual Arts category.

These tactics have worked well enough that we have been acknowledged by a YouTube employee. His response directly addressed the messages that we left. YouTube Kendall wrote "As for the topic for the arts, its an excellent topic." "and one I don't want getting lost inside this thread". Now should we go land on an aircraft carrier and declare victory? Oh hell no. Were smarter than that. This is a marathon, its not a sprint.

We have a long way to go, but we have to acknowledge this as a step in the right direction. But what is our next step? We followed YouTube Kendall's suggestion and created a new thread specifically for a YouTube Visual Arts category. Here is what we need to do to succeed. Take a second to hit the link in the video description. Leave a simple comment in our thread. YouTube is owned by Google and Google likes numbers. We will have a better chance of continuing this conversation if we get a lot of people that leave comments. Remember, you dont have to write a book, hit the link in the video description now and just simply write, YouTube needs a Visual Arts category. Lets set a goal of 1000 responses in the WE NEED A VISUAL ARTS CATEGORY ON YOUTUBE! thread by January 25, 2012.

Also, keep those YouTube Visual Arts V-Logs coming. Do you know why? Because we are artists....and artists are the most powerful communicators in the world. A sentence in the forum will give Google evidence of a large number of people who agree that a Visual Arts category is needed. BUT, a video made from the heart with honesty and integrity shows YouTube who we are. So please consider doing both.

Now, lets remind ourselves why a Visual Arts category is crucial. But you know what? Im going to shut up for a minute and let you do that.

Yes, I totally agree that we visual artists can definitely use a YouTube VISUAL ARTS category. Everyone, please follow Merrill's direction and click the link in the video description. More responses means MORE VIEWS for ALL OF US. Who wants more views?
