Let's skip my usual bout of self-deprecation to pose this query to the musical theatre world: Where is the love for the low-voiced ladies? Everyone and their mother creams themselves over chicks who belt into the stratosphere, but I feel like we girls who sit on the other end of the spectrum get more or less ignored.
Anyway. I'm kind of proud of this. Even though I make horrific faces when I sing, and I suspect the whole thing actually sounded better in person than it does on the recording.
Performing a Judy Garland song is basically just begging to be crucified by the theatergoing public. Be gentle, O ye Internets.
(Infinite thanks to Daniel Lockert at the piano; that man is freakin' amazing.)

Gorgeous. Norman Maine would have loved you. I heard you judiciously choose to invoke Garland here and there, but just enough to give the listener what he wants.... You have a great ear and innate sensibility for such things. I hope you don't mind a bit of unsolicited advice -- if I were you, I wouldn't use the pianist in this clip again. I'll leave it at that.

Bravo, Heather!

She is good! She wisely chose not to imitate or copy Judy Garland, and made the performance her own.

Judy would be proud (or she might club you to death in a back alley out of jealousy)!
