@jazzharp1 Check out Erroll Garners version (he wrote this tune) Think you might enjoy it if you are not already familiar with it. Peace!

What a refreshing rendition. Totally breaks the mold. I'm going to look for more Bud Shank stuff.

Bud Shank ....Great Sax. It really pisses me when they call the sax player Clarence (something..? that just died and played with Bruce Springsteen a ..." genius " >????? If he's a genius than what is Bud Shank >? Oh well what more can we expect from the masses..?

What an awesome version! I've played "Misty" as a ballad and uptempo swing. THIS was cool!

Clare Fischer and Bud Shank! Amazing! They were both influenced by the Konitz / Tristano school (and what great musician wasn't?), but Clare's solo on this is so wonderfully chromatic! And the ways that he played with resolutions of the improvised lines within the changes...wow! And that is just one aspect of his genius. His solo ballads defy musical logic, but are profound in their beauty.
Bud Shank, alto sax; Clare Fischer, piano; Gary Peacock, bass; Larry Bunker, drums; Frank Guerrero, tambourine, performing in 1962.
