I only agree to the comparison of fame, the TV station needed to let white folks get a rough idea how popular Utada is in Japan. They could of used Mariah Carrey though, because unlike Britney Spears, both Utada and Mariah have actual talent.
They're not like Britney, they CAN actually sing. They sell their voice, not just the looks.

she really can sing good but she has bad vocal problems sometimes she can hit really high notes and sometimes she can barley hit even one
