Bank of America, Paul Ceruzzi Curator of Computing of Smithsonian Institution talks about development of transistors, we see Geoffrey Dummer who was the first person to conceptualise the integrated circuit, and Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor who produced the first manufacturable integrated circuit.

@ludocrat Indeed. If I remember well, that microcomputer was the ZX81 by Clive Sinclair. That was before the ZX-Spectrum...I remember that these micros were connected at a black and white TV, and you had to enter the programs in assembly code in order to play a game. There were magazines which were publishing listings in assembly for games, and the young who were typing and typing assembly commands and numbers he he he :)

And the most important chip in the history of computer technology? The Zilog Z80A (1975). Others will argue it's the 6502. No! That entire series, while important, was still far too expensive.
The impact of the Z80 CPU was that it enabled every single human being in the world potentially (once they became interested enough in the idea) to afford a computer.
It also created the rule: CPUs must be Cheap, Flexible and Universal. Every processor improvement ever since then has followed that rule.
