I hadn't seen this sketch for more than 20 years but I still remember so many lines from it. "Burmese maidens - in Todmorden?" Absolutely brilliant - but yes, so dark and sad, too...

Dark. Having worked in a nursing home, I can say there are old people who'd do anything for this much personal attention. Stephen Fry's patronising tone in this is actually very mild compared to what many are subjected to. And as for a room that size... well. Another excellent example of F&L's satirical edge.
