貝多芬在1824年4月完成該交響曲,並且將一份手稿寄往倫敦愛樂協會,並寫上「為倫敦愛樂協會而作」。他讓交響曲在5月7日在維也納卡特納托劇院(Kärtnertho­r-Theater)首演,由米雪埃·翁勞夫(Michael Umlauf)指揮。貝多芬則坐在舞臺上,在每個樂章開篇時給出節奏速度方面的提示。當天晚上,首先以《雅典的廢墟》序曲打頭陣,再是《莊嚴彌撒》的三部分,然後才是壓軸­的第九交響曲。雖然樂隊的素質不是最好的(臨時拼湊而成的樂隊),但演出很成功,盛況空前。辛德勒寫道:演奏結束後,背向觀眾的貝多芬並不知道身後發生何事。這時,觀眾看­到了最感人的一幕,一位獨唱演員卡羅琳娜·溫格(Caroline Unger)拉貝多芬轉過身,才讓他看到觀眾起立五次並瘋狂地在鼓掌。當時,即使是皇室夫婦出場,觀眾也只會起立三次表示敬意,而五次對於一位非受雇於皇室的人來說,是未­有的。這甚至引來警方到達現場,去制止這種自發的致意。貝多芬深受感動。

  • Fantastic piece, my only problem was the "earth shattering" vibrations near the end. Kind of hokey, sort of laying it out for us "that this is awe inspiring!" Beethoven doesn't need the help.

  • @TK2008BEST This is what I wrote: "It's shortened parts of the 9th Symphony. The opening is blatantly Beethoven's 9th Symphony, 1st Movement. When the Timpani plays loudly and kind of like a solo, that's marking the start of the part from the Second movement. Then the other part which is blatantly obvious is the Ode to Joy motif later representing the 4th Movement" about 1 month ago.

    Learn to read.
