I have split this into 3 parts because of the 10 minute restriction on YouTube. There is a small overlap between the parts to satisfy the cynics out there!
I was aiming for 500+ but managed 998 when the camera battery ran out. :-( I lost focus at this point and crashed seconds later on 1003. This is by far my best effort on fast speed - my previous best being 637 off camera.
During this recording the window cleaner came. You can hear the dog barking and then the doorbell chime at about 745. I waited to see if my wife would answer but alas not, so I had to pause at 776 to pay the window cleaner.
Some more tips:
1. Use straight flight paths. It is much easier to compare the relative distance of straight lines than curved lines. Also, it is the shortest distance to the runway!
2. Where possible, land aircraft of the same type in the order they appear on the airfield.
3. Aim to use a single touch for each aircraft. The more times you adjust a flight path the less time you spend focussing on new aircraft.
4. Focus on what is coming next. I think this is the most important tactic. You can adjust other flight paths as necessary and plan the best path for the new aircraft. Letting new aircraft drift onto the airfield is inviting disaster.
5. Don't blink. I probably only blinked about 5 times during this video!
I'm now going to attempt to regain my Astronaut rank after being relegated to 11th position on the high score table.
Happy Flying!
