This is from the ITV Tonight Programme entitled "How to blow your redundancy" and is the section on RED Driving Schools and the lies they tell you to get you on board. I suffered in a similar experience with red driving schools so be warned.

The BBC have also featured Red in connection with its less than truthful selling methods see how an ex-RAF guy cought them RED handed, search youtube for "red driving school bbc xray" also see the Anti-Red driving school facebook group for other examples by searching facebook for "Anti Red Driving School Instructor Training LVG LTD"

I've been a instructor for 4yrs and trained with red. Training was poor spend most of the time on breaks in tesco's than in the car. I enjoy the job but money is poor not a job to make a good living.

the driving instructor sector is hit with massive competition and its even worse when more independant driving instructors are getting beaten down by franchises like Bill Plant, Red etc..

@craigyboyuk89 Yes I agree with you about the driving test part 2. You will have to do a lot of practicing I'm afraid. 5 lessons is no where near enough as you really need regular feedback on your drive. Test is about 60 to 75 minutes maximum 6 minors.

i am currently learning with RED to become a driving instructor. i have been to 4 in car training sessions, been shown a few things and have now been told i cannot get another in car lesson untill i have sat my theory test. that i dont have a problem with but what do have a problem wih is the fact that in 5 lessons i am meant to be able to sit a advanced driving test and pass....2 hours of driving and only 5 minors allowed. this is NOT enough driving lessons to get you up to the standard req'd.

I trained with the aa and joined after I qualified. I had one to one tuition at the times that I chose which was great. I obviously paid for the course but when I joined the aa they gave me that fee back in discounted franchise fees. I'm earning ok but spending too much on petrol so need to make my area smaller but that's up to me. As far as I've heard, the franchise fee seems to be pretty reasonable. Hope this helps.
