Wasps like this will lay eggs inside the nest chamber of solitary bees, and the wasp grub will eat the bee grubs. (A viewer reckoned this to be Sapyga clavicornis)

  • So, she is waiting for some little Chelostoma bees, if there aren't any she probably would look for other nesting places.

  • Fascinating wasps indeed! It looks like it's a parasite of little mason bees (Chelostoma sp.), named Sapyga clavicornis. The typical antenna, head and the yellow markings on the abdomen are characteristic.
