Deepesh from New York asks:

"How does Google calculate site load times in the data it exposes in Google Webmaster statistics? Is the calculation simply average time to get and receive the HTML content for a page?"

  • what mat says in this video is not true anymore. the load time exposed in webmaster tools takes into account the load time of the scripts on the page, probably using data gathered by the chrome browser and the google toolbar.

i recently optimized the loading of external javascripts on my pages and the page load-time in analytics reflects a 50% better load time from the day i did that (there was no significant change in the load time of the html itself).

  • Thank you for the advice, long been a question of mine. BTW, Hawaiian shorts would look quite nice. But bad for your branding. Primary colored shirts are integral, sorry to say.

  • Yes! hawaiian shirts! :D

  • i love all your video.

  • Go on, start wearing hawaiian shirts on different videos.
