trailblazer cold start

cold start of my dads 2005 trailblazer, 80,000 miles. equipped with a 4.2 liter vortec inline 6. it cranks the engine until it starts automatically but sounds like its pounding the shit out of it in the process. was 32.1 degrees at 2 AM the previous night.

florida, the car performs well but it does have some issues. the idler pully started squeaking and had to be replaced. the rear speakers only work some of the time; one went out. we also have the faulty instrument cluster. overall a good vehicle but if we ever got another one i would take care of these issues. get an aftermarket head unit and speakers. you can get the upgraded stepper motors to fix the instrument cluster for 28 bucks from ebay. all of this can be done if your a little handy.

Wish gm made pickups with this inline 6. After owning several v6's I just hate them. 2.8, 3.1 and 4.3 v6 all junk. Either head gasket problems or Engine rebuilt with 150,000 miles on it or like the 4.3 rod shooting through the oil pan. I'm done buying the v6. I'll buy a inline 4 or maybe a v8. But not a v6 anymore. That 4.2 looks like a good engine from it's specs. Should last longtime like a semi diesel engine.

I'm thinking of getting this car sooner or later... has there been any problems with it?
