Historical 8mm footage of Tigger Newling, David Sumpter, Rod Sumpter and Johnny McKilroy surfing in Ballinskelligs Bay, Kerry Ireland back in 1967. A few days previously, the Surf Club of Ireland held the first Irish National Championships in Tramore. Rodney Sumpter turned up to help, as did a journalist from California by the name of Alan Rich along with Tigger Newling, John Trout and Nick Kavanagh from England. Rod Sumpter won the International event. The contest was deemed to be a great success by all and it heralded the dawn of a new era for surfing in Ireland.

unfortunately the wave isnt there anymore would of been to sick a wave that irish surf pioneers were found. although there is razor sharp reef underneath him i can imagine wipeouts being painful lol
