3 Cylinder Fairbanks Morse 80 HP Start-up

This video is of me starting Les Layton's 1910 3 Cylinder 80 HP Fairbanks Morse engine at the 2009 Great Oregon Steam-up at Antique Powerland Museum in Brooks, Oregon and is housed in the Harvey Hilands building owned by the Antique Implement Society. This particular engine powered an alfalfa seed cleaning mill in Eastern Oregon. The engine is capable on running on both kerosene and gasoline and is ignitor fired. The engine is initially turned over by compressed air on the left cylinder until one or both of the other cylinders is firing, at this point the air is shut off in the #1 cylinder and the fuel is turned on to that cylinder. The engine is capable of running for 45 minutes on 5 gallons of gasoline with no load.
