My wife has been thinking about getting laser eye surgery for a number of years now and finally last week she did it. She is someone who has vision bad enough that she is helpless without her glasses and therefore has never learned to swim etc.

She has spent a while researching different surgeons and ended up choosing Dr. Emil Chynn at Park Avenue Laser Vision because a friend of ours had a Lasek procedure their that went very well, with no pain and great results. After talking to a number of friends about different possible procedures she chose Lasek because it seemed the most advanced and the least intrusive. Dr Chynn was also very reasonably priced for what we felt was an extremely skilled surgeon.

It is 3 days later and she is still amazed at the ease of the procedure and the lack of pain or discomfort, during and after the procedure. (I think the Valium helped). The moment the procedure was completed she could see around 20/50 and her eye sight has been getting better everyday. She was really happy with the staff and was glad that Dr. Chynn gave the follow up visits. There are strict rules about keeping your eyes closed and lubricated with drops and steroids, in order to ensure a successful Lasek, but it has given her a time to rest and she is so incredibly thrilled every time she peaks out from beneath her eyelids. And she can't wait to enroll in swimming class!!

I also want to add that while seeing the procedure up close on a video may be a bit frightening, but watching it in real life with your own eyes it is quite miraculous, I would recommend swinging by Park Avenue Laser to see the procedure in person.

  • Hi there. Thanks so much for posting this.I just had lasik (intralase) done on Feb 28th. My near vision is excellent but my distance vision is blurry. I am curious to know on average how long it takes for the eyes to stabilize and reach 20/20 or even better 20/15 I am pleased with the results but I am anxious about the distance vision and hope it returns soon!! look forward to any feedback! Thanks and take care.

  • It took about a month to go from 20/50 to maybe 20/35 and then another month to really go to better than 20/20. At this point night vision is great and everything is comfortable. The first month of waiting was unsettling but unnecessarily so.

  • is she asleep during this process. Any anesthesia? ive always wanted to know.

  • Awake but after a Valium didn't feel a thing. It is much worse watching it than having it done.

  • Thanks for posting the vid!

Curious how your vision is doing? Dr. Chynn sounds like a great surgeon - - considering lasek at Park Ave. - any thoughts?

  • 2 months later, vision is at least 20-20, no problems, everything has gone very smoothly. I would recommend Dr. Chynn.

  • When they scraped some stuff off her eye is when they really lost me. They could not get me to do that if they gave it to me free and paid me on top of it.

She has really beautiful brown eyes and I am glad it worked. =)

  • @Mantiiez94 you can't when they scrap it off..

  • I was 20/20 the MORNING AFTER. June 2010. Hollis Lasik, Auburn AL 100,000 surgeries done by Stephen Hollis, call him. In March 2011 it was BETTER. Read 20/13 and 20/15 line in the other.

  • Glasses... Much better..

  • @TheVengefulGod Interesting.

  • @ehlohve dont take the risk or trust the doctor to be truthful about risks. they only care about money.

  • what they "forget" to tell you is that hot ass laser burns corneal nerves. These are permanently damaged for life. Welcome to dry eye hell. I speak from experience. Notice in the video the haze created on the eye after the laser does its destruction. Dead cells. Corneal nerves are fucked.

  • not worth the risk. Trust me.

  • what about the pain???

    how long does it take?

    :) plzzz answer!!!!

do you see during this procedure???

  • @luck110 if i would see someone do that to me i would scream
