  • Wow really these guys are so slow my department can have all 60 guys dressed and in the trucks in 30 sec

  • @Jon27868 IDK what fantasy world your living in, but times like those are impossible. This is a volunteer department, and a lot of guys have to travel anywhere from 1-4 minutes to get to the station. I highly doubt that your department can get 60 people dressed, packed up, and belted in 30 seconds, especially if they have to respond from home like we do. Think before you make stupid comments!

  • What is the average life span of a fire truck? Is there a certain time frame that they have to be taken out of service? those trucks are beautiful

  • @gsarjos Obviously it depends where the truck is at. A big city will go through trucks faster due to the high call volume and rough roads, but normally a truck will be in service for about 20 years. We keep ours in good condition, so they can last us longer than that, but we try to replace them when they reach 20 years or so.

  • Are people assigned to apparatus or is it take what you can get?

  • @chechnya all volunteer, no rig assignments. we have a rookie period, where you can only ride in certain seats, and we have a few guys that mostly drive, and a couple guys that are mostly the officers, so for the most part we know who's gonna do what, it just changes slightly from call to call.
