Features:
Menswear - Sleeping In.

A whole brace of limited edition Christmas singles without videos seem to have invaded the charts on this particular week, with the brilliant Earl Brutus winning the overall fight.

Sorry for cutting off Oasis, but they're available on the previous month's chart.

  • Hmmm, what the hell was with the Babybird tune? What an awful noise. Not too keen on the Earl Brutus snippet either (though obviously you like them). Thanks for uploading.

  • It's a disturbing tune, the Babybird one - I actually own it, and it seems to be all about Vietnam War tortue and parachute failure(?) Not exactly easy listening.

The Earl Brutus track isn't one of their best, and their music won't be to everyone's tastes. There's a video of theirs elsewhere on youtube if you search.

  • This takes me back! The ITV Chart show, shouting at the TV "PLAY, PLAY PLAY" and they never played the ones you wanted, bastards

  • hmmm...I remember someone saying that Menswear were so bad they were called that as they make 'men swear'...LOL!

  • I liked menswear at the time. From what I remember everyone turned agaisnt them when it became obvious just HOW manufactured they were.

    I even bought a t-shirt!

  • They where/are shit as well :(

    It was a sorry time.

and Oasis- can't stand them or their fans but there still the best here by far!

  • Menswear were one of Britpops favorite whipping boys. The thing is there was so much shit kicking around during this era that the abuse should have been more equally shared out.

  • menswear were shit. still shit if they were a new band today.

  • That Kristin Hersh song is 'Jesus Christ' by Alex Chilton/Big Star, isn't it? Not 'The Holy Single'!

  • They used the same fireplace video for the three 'non-videos'. That's just lazy!

  • The date for this episode is 23rd December 1995.

  • That part of the Babybird track is very dissonant but it's meant to be - the eerie terror of the snake caves juxtaposed with the horrible faux-bonhomie of the army singalong about a parachute not opening (just the thing to calm the nerves of a jittery GI, that).

Oh, and Collapsed Lung did actually release something other than "Eat My Goal"! How nice.
